Allison Adair
Allison Adair grew up somewhere between the pastures and
battlefields of rural Pennsylvania. Since leaving her
home, she has lived in Providence, Dublin, Belfast,
Boston, and Iowa City, where she is currently completing
her final semester in the Writers' Workshop. She once
used the pen of former Irish President Mary Robinson to
practice writing the letter "q" in cursive. She
finds this experience somehow notable. "Rush On" and "The Softest Gossip" were both written
while Adair was studying in Iowa, during a blessed
reunion with the poems of W.B. Yeats and Richard Hugo.
The recipient of a Workshop Teaching-Writing Fellowship,
Adair hopes to pursue writing both poetry and fiction
when she returnes to boston next year.
